The Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is a research and development organization that focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous driving. TRI was established in 2015 as a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation with the goal of advancing the technology to make cars safer, more accessible, and more environmentally friendly.
In April 2017, Toyota Research Institute (TRI) was searching for a Control & Motion Planning Manager to join their Human Interactive Driving (HID) division. The HID division focuses on developing advanced technologies to improve the safety and accessibility of vehicles for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
TRI had specific requirements for the role, including a PhD in Engineering, expertise in motion planning and control, and experience with developing control algorithms for automated driving systems. HopHR submitted Avinash Balachandran, who had a PhD in Engineering from Stanford University and was working as a Control & Motion Planning Manager for Faraday, an automated driving company.
Avinash’s expertise and experience in the field of automated driving made him a strong fit for the role at TRI. After a rigorous interview process, Avinash was offered the position and he accepted.
